Acapulco has its genesis in the summer of 2017 during the roadtrip that takes the band to the beaches of northern Spain and Portugal. These days of creative reflection are punctuated by sunset jam sessions: an electronic violin, pads and loop station, with the sound box facing a cliff to hear the sound bounce against the rocky wall and mix with the echo of the sea.
Playa del Regatón, de las Arenas, Lumebó and Cabo Mondego become the stage of a musical research that arises spontaneously as a synthesis of the dialogue between man and nature, according to the idea of a harmonious symbiotic relationship.
Acapulco, the third EP of the Italian duo San Hell Sing, provides an in-depth analysis, which, through this album, consolidates a narrative of violins and percussions, samples and synthesizers.
Kolito marks the beginning of the album, a debut where dark sounds are contrapposed to the exotic pizzicato of the violin and irregular pads alternate with the rhythms of the Indian tabla in a crescendo that culminates and then fades. The second track, Bingoman, confirms the relaxed chill out mood with the introduction of new elements such as the brushed acoustic drums and the ATV Electrorganic aFrame. The conclusion comes with Acapulco, drawing an articulated, almost orchestral melody, which evolves as unpredictable as the plot of a film, with unexpected twists made of layered chords, merged with a techno beat that suggests the euphoric celebration of dance.
The album cover was exclusively created by Barcelona-based graphic designer Barbara Fregosi. The artwork is the result of a research on geometric shapes, colours, balance and tension points, originated from a cardboard sculpture, first laser-cut, then photographed. The video of the first single, Acapulco, was created by visual artist Christina Angeloro - aka Katjastrike - who translates the sensorial and cognitive perception of the song into generative art.
